2017 DC Black Pride Leadership Awardee

From street gang to clothing start-up, some former members of the LGBTQ gang "Check It" became entrepreneurs and started their own business, Check It Enterprises LLC – a clothing business, in 2009.

The group has obtained their own building in Southeast Washington with the dream of turning ther space into a social enterprise designed to make and sell their own clothing and merchandise. Additionally they hope to help provide services to their peers as well as providing space for other young entrepreneurs who need the same opportunity but have limited resources.

Check It Enterprises is the subject of a documentary, “Check It,” which debuted at the TriBeCa Film Festival in 2016.
