11 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. | "Are We Prepared to Address Homophobia in the Black Church" Community Town Hall Meeting Hyatt Regency - Congressional A (Lobby Level) The focus of this interactive community town hall meeting, facilitated by Reverend Larry Burks, will be to discuss the impact that homophobia in the Black Church has on LGBT attendees and the Black community. What is the hold that homophobia pastors have over LGBT attendees? Why do some of us continue to support these institutions that do not support us? What can we do to challenge homophobia Black pastors and churches. These are and other questions will be address as Rev. Burks tells his story of being a homophobia minister in Los Angeles. Be prepared to be challenged! |
